I read an interview with Stan Goff in Mother Jones this week. He spent 30 years in the military and in Special Forces before becoming an activist. His insight is amazing.

You don't have to give your money Kathy Lee Gifford or Sean Combs. Why should we be a billboard for billionaire CEO's of large corporations?

With regard to all 11 Let's Write Bigotry Into Our State Constitution propsals that passed last Tuesday, this is an excellent response to all those people who voted for that bullshit and yet are trying to claim they're not homophobic.

I am still dumbfounded as to why people can't see this. Equal means equal, assholes.

It's been a week of disillusionment. The thought of 4 more years of Dubya makes me want to crawl into a hole. But, I know that's not the thing to do. I often feel pretty damn alone in the world with my views (until I read some of your LJ entries). I sometimes wonder how I became so different from the people who bore and raised me. I'm not a bad person really. I believe in a live and let live philosophy. I came out as queer when being queer wasn't very popular. I don't subscribe to a particular religion. I refuse to go to Walmart or Starbucks or any large corporate moneyhog that squashes small and family-owned business. I'm distressed at the disappearance of those establishments that can't compete with large corporations.

It probably seems that starting a community is like preaching to the choir, but I thought it would be nice to have a forum to share ideas. I'd like to see the promotion of small businesses, especially non-sweatshop sites, minority-run sites, etc.

I hope we can get this community rolling with ideas. I know there are a ton of witty, intelligent and insightful people and I'm looking forward to reading your posts.
